Who is Amanda Akokhia?
From Law School to Lens: My Creative Journey
After graduating from law school, I found myself at a corporate firm, chasing the traditional idea of success. But deep down, I felt a void—my creative spirit was restless, wanting something more. That’s when I stumbled upon photography. Armed with my dad’s camera phone, I began capturing moments, unaware that those humble beginnings would spark a journey that changed my life.
Fast forward 12 years, and I can confidently say pursuing photography was the best decision I ever made. Today, I’m proud to be an award-winning photographer, carving out my unique space in the industry. As a woman, I’ve refused to be boxed into conventional categories. Instead, I’ve reshaped how fashion and beauty photography come alive, blending artistry with business to build something truly special.
But it hasn’t always been easy. In the early days, self-doubt loomed large. Impostor syndrome kept me from stepping into opportunities, and I constantly undervalued my work. I questioned my talent, my direction, and my ability to succeed. It wasn’t until I embraced my worth and worked tirelessly to sharpen my craft that things began to change.
Now, I want to help others avoid those same pitfalls. That’s why I created this Masterclass—to empower you to show up confidently and equipped with the skills you need to thrive. Talent alone isn’t enough; building a career requires vision, strategy, and relentless effort. My mission is to support the next generation of creatives, helping you navigate the challenges of the commercial photography industry.
